Why 'the Power of a Woman awards' exist
The Power Of A Woman Awards was set up by Fredi Nwaka in honour of his late mother Angela Nwaka who tragically passed away in 2019.
Fredi was brought up in the care system but after returning to live with his biological parents, he experienced a traumatic childhood. Latter years would see him re-bond and re-kindle the type of relationship a child would expect with their mother, and they became best friends.
“My mother did the best for all of us with the tools she had and sacrificed so much. I didn’t have the opportunity to show her how much I loved and appreciated her while she was alive so hopefully this event will keep her legacy alive.”
Fredi Nwaka
