Short Bio
(DJ) Elayne Smith is an accomplished presenter for both radio and television – LWR Breakfast Show, BBC’s “Top of the Pops”, LWT’s “291Club”, Channel 4’s “Search for a Star”, BSB for “Rage”, “Chart Show, and “Global Juke Box”, and Choice FM’s “Early Morning Breakfast Show”, The Beat London and currently on her own radio station Fly Fresh n Phat where she presents a weekly live phone-In syndicated show.

Elayne is well known for her broadcasting and club Djing work. Elayne’s DJ work has seen her play at a great number of clubs ranging from the very under ground ‘Cotton Club’ to the mainstream ‘Hippodrome’. Elayne has sprung from LWR (Pirate Radio) where she presented the breakfast show. Elayne co-devised and presented ITV and Channel Four’s hit talent search series the ‘291 Club’, which unearthed Skunk Anansi and Eternal amongst others. Elayne’s passion for new talent secured her the Urban Music A+R Management post at EMI Records making her the first woman ever in England to work in that position. To add yet another achievement to Elayne’s list of credits, she made her acting debut at the Hackney Empire in a play called “The Wife, the Baby Mother and The Woman in the Dark”.

Elayne has been the music editor for ‘Pride Magazine’, ‘Panache Magazine’ and ‘Black Hair Magazine’. Speaking of hair; Elayne is the proud owner of her wig brand; Elayne Smith Wigs & Hair Pieces. Watch out for the 2023 relaunch with her new collection.
